Lady and Trans* Fest Dublin March 2014
This coming Friday March 28th, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th, a badass queer/feminist D.I.Y. festival Lady and Trans*fest will roll into Dublin like a giant glitterball to smash patriarchy in the face!
Lady and Trans*Fest exists to promote womyn and trans* people within music, art and activism. The festival aims to create a safer space for queers and rebels, and encourage female and trans* voices to be heard. This means that all performing acts will have a majority or consist entirely of wimmin & trans* folk.
This festival has a history internationally and within Ireland as a positive movement and creative form of empowerment. All genders are welcome!
This is a FREE festival, and fundraisers have been organised for the past few months to make this happen. All you have to do is show up and enjoy!

Call me Kuchu
In Uganda, a new bill threatens to make homosexuality punishable by death. David Kato – Uganda’s first openly gay man – and his fellow activists work against the clock to defeat the legislation while combating vicious persecution in their daily lives. But no one, not even the filmmakers, is prepared for the brutal murder that shakes the movement to its core and sends shock waves around the world.
The Punk Singer
A film about Kathleen Hanna. Offers a never never-before-seen view into the life of the Bikini Kill frontwoman, feminist, and riot grrrl icon.
This saturday, march 15th, we’re having a meeting to talk specifically with folk who wanna volunteer for the weekend of Lady&trans* fest in some way. (28th-30th March)
At 3pm at Seomra spraoi – dublin’s autonomous social centre, at 10 belvedere ct. in dublin 1 – we’ll give you an update on what we’ve been working on, and we’ll figure out how you all can help out! This might be signing up for a shift of childcare, or kitchen, or welcome desk, or set up/take down/clean up! yeahhh! so much fun!!!!
and, it’s really important for us to have this meeting so we can do our best to ensure that the festival is a safer space for everyone who comes, and that we’re prepared for all the brilliant madness that’s creeping up on us!
It would be great, too, if everyone could bring some food, so we can all meet and eat and chat at the same time 🙂
Also, if you are really unable to make this meeting, you can still volunteer! send us an email back letting us know what you would like to help with and we’ll figure it out. firstname.lastname@example.org
Thanks to all of you who are making this possible – we really appreciate the help!
It’s March! Which means it’s less than a month ’till lady&trans*fest,
we’re still doing out bimonthly queer&feminist film screenings, but we’ve had to do a little rejiggling,
we’re really sad to say that we’re not going to be able to screen Pink Sari’s in the end. So! we’re gonna be playing “Leila Khalid: HIjacker” alongside the short film “Un Jour” this Thursday at Seomra Spraoi.
here’s the original poster for ya with the information
